Dear MIH Consortium Members,

The MIH Consortium is actively advancing standardization and has just released its third standard this month! Following the release of the Powertrain Standard in June and the Smart Cabin API Standard in July, August brings the launch of the third standard—the Software-Defined Vehicle (SDV) Classification Ver. 1.0.

As the automotive industry continues its rapid transformation, SDV is becoming a key trend. Vehicles are evolving into digital platforms, with more automakers striving to define and update vehicle functionality through software, ensuring that features and user experiences remain continuously up-to-date.

To meet these demands, the automotive industry must work together to create customizable vehicles with longer life cycles and new revenue opportunities. The MIH Consortium has introduced SDV Classification to support this. This standard defines three levels of software control and updates from a user-centric perspective, helping the industry understand and leverage the benefits of software integration in vehicles. We encourage members to complete our survey and provide feedback on the MIH standards to help us improve!

📢📢 Another important announcement: We are excited to share that MIH is starting the election process for the new committee. We sincerely invite all members to self-nominate or nominate candidates. We believe that having experts in the EV field serve as committee members will help review the consortium’s proposed standards and provide technical guidance and advice, which will significantly enhance MIH’s standardization efforts. We look forward to your active participation to drive the growth and progress of the consortium.

Additionally, the upcoming "2024 Hon Hai Tech Day" (HHTD24) on October 8-9 is set to showcase the latest smart EV solutions and the integration of AI across three major platforms: Smart Manufacturing, Smart EV, and Smart Cities. We warmly invite all members to join us in person or online!

Enjoy your reading, and we wish all our members a Happy Mid-Autumn Festival! 🌕

With the rise of the CASE (Connected, Autonomous, Shared & Services, and Electric) trend, the automotive industry is increasingly leveraging software to define vehicle functions and enhance user experiences, enabling vehicles to continuously evolve and remain up-to-date.

Consumers now expect vehicles that can be continuously updated to suit their lifestyles. Meanwhile, automakers aim to enhance production efficiency and explore new revenue streams, while suppliers need adaptable components to meet varying model and market demands.

To align with this industry shift, the MIH Consortium has released the SDV Classification. This standard outlines three levels of software control and update capabilities, helping the industry understand and leverage the benefits of software in vehicles.
