Powertrain WG monthly meeting on 7/18 discussed:
1. Project X progress update, Includes schedule, layout check between chassis and EDU system of 3 and 6 seater.
2. The roadmap for the development of smart logistics vehicles (Project Y), including the application planning of 2-speed electric drive axles in 5t, 3.5t, and mini van.
3. The 2-speed e-beam axle status update:
The 1st gear ratio design has been updated, the simulated energy consumption has been improved by about 8.9%, and the acceleration, Max. speed and climbing are all better than 1 speed 6~10%.
We are searching for suppliers to make synchronizer ring.
The AMT gearbox is applied to the e-axle. compared with the central drive system, it can have better battery configuration space and better maintainability.
In-Wheel motor has the advantages of simplification, increased interior space and reduced transmission loss, we will focus on durability, differential reliability, cooling and mass production technology.
4. Design standardization:
The standardization of EDU can integrate the 40/60/80kW system by using the method of adjusting the laminations of rotor/stator and use the same gearbox case & cover.
E-beam axle is not easy to integrate the bridge body due to the strength and cost of commercial vehicles, but there is still a need for standardized integration of motors and electronic controls.
【Smart Cabin Working Group】
The Smart Cabin WG has held the 21st meeting of the Smart Cabin Working Group on July 6. This meeting will continue to refer to the smart Cabin system architecture and define the Display Command Interface, which is the display control interface, according to the requirements of display control requirement. With the Display Command Interface, it can adjust the display settings, have display adjustments, or customize adjustments to achieve the best display effect. And define the audio control interface Audio Command Interface. Through the Audio Command Interface, the sound output and input can be adjusted, and the sound can be tuned or customized by the user to achieve the best sound effect. The working group will also review and discuss revisions to other commands under development.
【Energy Management Working Group】
The Energy Management Team and partners are planning to conduct a disassembly and discussion session this month focused on a certain automotive battery pack. The objective is to gain an understanding of its high-voltage topology and design standards by physically dissecting the battery pack. Additionally, we are preparing to modify its battery pack from a Wired Battery Management System to a Wireless Battery Management System, followed by an evaluation of the wireless system's validation.
【Testing & Certification Working Group】
The Testing and Certification WG convened its 26th meeting on the 27th of this month. During the meeting, VicOne, a wholly-owned subsidiary of TrendMicro renowned in the cybersecurity industry, was invited to share insights on UNR-155 (United Nations Regulation No. 155) concerning cybersecurity. VicOne is committed to the automotive cybersecurity. This sharing session allowed the members of the group to gain a deeper understanding of the regulatory requirements regarding cybersecurity. It also contributed to the preparation for the upcoming Cybersecurity White Paper.
Net-Zero Sub Group
This month, our team has been working on the MIH Net-Zero project, and we have already commenced carbon inventory work with three member companies. Not only have we strengthened our carbon auditing and verification framework, but we have also developed solutions for carbon management, carbon neutrality, and carbon tariffs. Our goal is to provide members with a comprehensive decarbonization solution, and we anticipate expanding these efforts to include product supply chains and fleet management systems to realize more intelligent carbon management. If any members require assistance with carbon auditing or carbon management, or any partners with professional certification capabilities wish to join the project, please feel free to contact the person in charge at: shock.tung@mih-ev.org
【Security & OTA Working Group】
Web3 in EV Sub Group
This month, our team has been focusing on the technical integration of blockchain architecture applied to Usage Based Insurance (UBI). The main emphasis is on the collection and analysis of data related to vehicle usage and driver behavior, aiming to optimize the insurance evaluation system.Additionally, in response to personnel adjustments, the chair of the Web3 in EV Sub-Group will now be filled by Aaron Kao, Project SVP of DAS Blockchain Technology at Cathay Financial Holdings. We look forward to exploring new possibilities under his leadership.
【EEA Working Group】
MIH will complete the draft of the EEA topology in this month. The EEA topology refers to the topology of the vehicle electronic architecture, which will regulate the topology of ECUs, sensors, and wiring harnesses in the vehicle. The traditional EEA topology is a distributed architecture, with each ECU only responsible for a few functions, and each sub-function has independent and dedicated ECUs, wiring harnesses, and sensors. MIH's EEA topology will adopt a centralized EE topology, which will enable automakers to develop new models more quickly even in lower cost, and will provide important support for the development of electrification and intelligence in the automotive industry.
【Autonomy Working Group】
The Autonomy Working Group is currently exploring the pathway to upgrade L2 automated driving to L3/L4 and the possibility of coexistence between L2 and L3/L4 architectures. The goal is to achieve seamless transitions between L2 and L3/L4 functionalities through new software and hardware architecture. The design should aim to enhance the prevalence of L3/L4 automated driving and reduce the associated system costs.
【Connectivity Working Group】
Our team has continued to focus on the technical research and optimization of the T.SpaceRouter® engineering prototype. The main tasks include defining usage scenarios, clarifying technical requirements, and devising relevant solutions, all in preparation for further development and testing work.
